I have been particularly quiet lately because I have been working with pod2g, ius, CPICH, westbaer, AriX, and some others on IRC to test this out.
We have had major success with the arm7_go exploit. We can now successfully get it to run unsigned code, so we are pretty much up to par with the devteam in regards to being able to patch out signature checks in RAM, and probably boot to a hacked filesystem, although that has not been tested yet as the most recent success came from a payload by me and ius that I have dubbed “0wnboot”:
Now, just to note, this is the same exploit that redsn0w uses, so we are not able to do this untethered. But what this does me is that now we can take a look at the bootrom, which, I am guessing is going to have older and more vulnerable code than what I have been looking at in iBEC / iBSS / ‘fake’ (wtf2.0) bootrom 
PS: Again, we are at par with devteam, nothing more than they have done. Just posting this because I can see from the comments that some people want an update

Here's a guide on how to do it with windows xp, just get powertoys so u can open the command windows (to get powertoys just google it and click the first link and on the right side download open command here).

for any1 saying the tethered jailbreak is hard, its not, its actually quite simple, there are a lot of very good tutorials for windows and mac and even linux on ipodtouchfans
