There seems to have been an unofficial QuickPwn released by an unheard of russian group. I am not stopping you from using it, but here are some warnings and information.
Basically, they just include the decryption keys for the firmware files, and leave the rest up to the QuickPwn auto search-and-find mechanism for finding the patches. The reason for it being a Windows only release is that the Mac version, properly, requires actual patches, which I assume this group does not know how to get or did not bother finding.
Because they don’t include any patches, this will cause some problems…
Unlock: You will need to upgrade to the 3.0 firmware before you use their method, meaning you will get the 4.22 baseband and you will not be able to use it with your carrier if you are unlocked on 2.28 with yellowsn0w right now, nor can you downgrade to an exploitable firmware.
Expiration: They do not patch out the expiration, so have fun with your brick once a new beta is out if it does not leak 
iPod touch 2G users: They probably do not understand our 24kPwn exploit, therefore they do not support the iPod touch 2G in their modified QuickPwn.
The best thing to do is to just wait until summer, or stay on release firmwares (2.2.1), but since I know that many will not want to do that, I will just say, you have been warned.

I totally agree. That Russian team just wanted to try to get e-fame, even though tons of people are going to be pissed when they finally figure out they can't use their phone because of the baseband update. I think the only people who should even attempt to upgrade to 3.0 are those on an iPod Touch 1G & 2G that can wait for a proper jailbreak and those on an iPhone that can actually upgrade without it messing up their phone (and can also wait for a proper jailbreak). I kept my iPod Touch 1G on 2.2.1 and put my iPod Touch 2G on 3.0b2(I have a Dev account), I can wait for the jailbreak for my 2G. It should be you will not be able to use it with your carrier if you are “locked” Not unlocked bud.

hmm… the “russians” install icy instead of cydia. I noticed that with 1.1, icy now supports more info and screenshots. Is there really any reason to stick with cydia, except for the guilt of stealing ad revenue? These repos hopefully don't go broke!

I need some help. Again. The repairman hasn't finished with my PC yet, and my tethered iPod touch 2G turned off. I'm using my mom's MacBook Pro at the moment, and I was wondering if anyone knew either A) How to boot up my iPod or B) How to go from tethered to untethered without a full restore. Both of these I would need Mac directions for, of course. Any help would be appreciated.

Callmebam, try doing a nor-only jalbreak. It does not delete any of your data, but it invovles a lot of typing commands (atleast in windows) so if you mess up, then you are screwed, since you are writing to the nor. Just try to find a mac tutorial on google.there is no need to resore before you jalbreak.

my question is i dont understand anything about it but, why don't they release the 2.2.1 untethered jailbreak in quickpwn? or are they waiting until the 3.0 firmware to arrive? i untethered mine myself using a mac, i will help you callmebam, but for the sake of all of the tards who cant do it without quickpwn, why not release?

Well the repos are probably going to start blocking icy soon one way or another if it doesn't support ads because they will lose all their revenue. Although icy is pretty nice, I'm going to stick with Cydia because it is good and stable and I'm still supporting the repos to some extent. If icy supported ads though…
Well I was able to because I used appbackup off of cydia buy that only works when you restore with the same firmware. But other wise it is impossible but appbackup hardly works I only got like five cydia installed things back. Right now I am uploading thebpackagebto a site then I will give you the link and it hasbthe directions in it. But to save yourself time right now I formgit to putnlibusb into it so look up libusb on google and install it.
You mean AptBackup? I use that. AppBackup is just for Apple apps. AptBackup is for Cydia. I know about all of that. I think I'm just going to play it safe and wait until my PC is fixed.
