Well…. It is faster, could Apple have basically overclocked the 3g and sold it as a new iPhone? (This is probably like reeeaaalllyyy false, I didn't check the tech specs =P)
It does look pretty fake though. You would also think the heat would only be at the proccesor though.

nah, its a new processor, so it natively runs that fast. put it this way, if it was overclocked (aka, put beyond what it is meant to be), then the battery would die much faster

Ok LOL. But you would think that the faster the processes Apple puts in on their new ones, the more heat it is going to generate. They would have to draw the line SOMEHERE at proccesor speed.
If it gets faster, maybe mini fans or a grate type design will come in to play.

2) yes redsn0w (0.7.2) works but redsn0w beta 0.3 is for 2.2.1 ONLY.
3) never use homebrew software UNLESS either the Dev team or experts like chronic dev say “yes it's safe”. Or if you made it….
